The Science and Technology Committee has launched a new ‘evidence check’ forum asking members of the public and experts to scrutinise four government evidence papers underpinning science policies.
The evidence checks cover the following policies:
- innovation in, and accelerated access to, healthcare
 - smart meters
 - digital government
 - flexible working and facilitating working away from the office.

Committee chair Nicola Blackwood said the four policy areas would be added to in the coming months, adding: “I hope that these evidence checks will prove a valuable way to examine how the government uses evidence to make policy and I would encourage everyone – whether experts in the fields or not – to send us their thoughts and insights.”
The deadline for public comment is 29 January.
